Promise Yourself to be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. To talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person you meet. To make all your friends feel that there is something in them.
To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true. To think only the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best. To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own. To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile. To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticise others. To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble. To think well of yourself and to proclaim this fact to the world, not in loud words but great deeds. To live in faith that the whole world is on your side so long as you are true to the best that is in you.

The true optimist not only expects the best to happen, but goes to work to make the best happen. The true optimist not only looks upon the bright side, but trains every force that is in him to produce more and more brightness in his life.
Christian D. Larson

A man who, being both true and good; who perseveres the task of his significance, independent and uninterfering: before any grand sun-scorched sierra, disintegrating star or unimaginable bliss here or later, may well be the uppermost of miracles, on this great globe of inexhaustible enchants. Yet, how the baser marvels apprehend, and we vilify the silent hero.

As far as anyone can see, there is suffering still and most of the good here lay unfinished. Our own knots at least are forgotten in the straining to release another from theirs, and so it goes on, the great untangling of our times. To recover beneath the coil an undisfigured society. The kind that itself heals from a trauma but with understanding, however whence it came. Hallowed be the few who toward disasters go. Exemplary citizens, of habitual constancy and who toil for none but a shared advantage as would only see its fellows rise to triumph over adversities of the soul. Rather than rejoice and march on to a spire still more glorious, will hang behind to render aid to the weary, the wicked and the lost. After all, we are all far away from something or someplace we shall all arrive at anyway at one point or another, and as ever we are all in passing and getting by as best we know. So we might as well make the most of it and where possible, give. While we are all here together above the dirt in high spirits.

249: Be upright and steadfast

Be upright and steadfast. Go silently with purpose refined and follow your logical premonitions. Round the advantage. Distill your actions to the finest necessary. Say what isn’t improved unsaid, and in your goings, leave a thing as you find it or better for the encounter. Meet your enemies without conceit and overcome them with gentility. Give to the all, and against the rush of everlasting night, thrash hard.

If you must strive, strive to be positively irreplaceable. Leave behind so glorious a chasm in your stood, that inevitably fills who remain to stare.

To those splendid souls of heavenly composite, quick to kind words and deeds pure; return the favour. Unto the ill-humoured hellion, escapee of limbo, would slander and mistreat you; abandon the philosophy. Act not in kind but with kindness affront. Offer the first goodly favour that direst need, and witness at once; dissolve of hostility, and a factual paradise begun.

What can be regretted, thought or action if born from undiluted goodness?

Be, as much as humanly possible, decidedly and adamantly good. You deserve it so.
